Our 15-day photo safari tour takes you all of the best photographic locations in Western Mongolia and the wonderful trip gives you a good amount of time at each stop you have scenic subjects to shoot.

You will meet local people of diverse Mongolian ethnic groups, which are as different as you go further to the west.

This is a very rewarding trip to a part of Mongolia rarely visited by foreigners yet.

Our safaris are enjoyed by people with a strong interest in both wildlife and photography.

All levels, from beginner to advanced amateur photographers are welcome !!!

  1. Day 1 Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

    Meet your local guide and driver and transfer to centrally located hotel. City tour with National History Museum and Gandan Monastery, center of Mongolian Buddhism.

  2. Day 2 Flight to Ulaangom

    Brief tour of the city. Uvs province-a chain of lakes, wetlands, sand dunes and high mountains.

  3. Day 3 Gashuun Valley

    Drive to Gashuun valley which is a wonderful panoramic landscape of ice-capped Turgen mountains. Visit Stone memorials of ancient periods. Photography day of wonderful nature and historical sites. Tented camp at the bank of the Turgen river.

  4. Day 4 Achit Lake

    Drive to Achit lake, – the bizzare lake in Uvs province, located on the border of three western aimags. It offers stunning sunsets and sunrises and plenty of fish. The lake is home to flocks of geese, eagles and other birdlife. In the afternoon drive to Kharkhiraa valley – delightful valley, surrounded by dense pine forests, has crystal clear river and carpeted with flowers. It is a perfect place to stay and photograph, while and relax, or to go hiking and taking beautiful photos. On the way we will stop at “Island of Devel”, is home to kinds of rare birds.

  5. Day 5 Drive to Ulgii city, Bayan-Ulgii province

    Unlike other provinces, its population is dominated by Turkic Kazakhs, which have their own language, customs, and Muslim religion. Visit local museums, black markets, and theater. Photography day of another culture and tradition than the main Mongols.

  6. Day 6 Altai Mountain Range

    We are entering Altai high mountain area and arrive at Shiveet Khairkhan mountain- the closest place to the Altai peaks reachable by the car. We are traveling at an altitude of 2500-3000 m. In this huge mountain, there is the highest point of Mongolia, 4374m above sea level. Stay at tented camp at Tsagaan Gol. Prepare the horses and camels for the next day.

  7. Day 7, 8 Altai Tavan Bogd Peak

    Leave our vehicle and load our luggage to the horses, camels and trek toward the Altai Tavan Bogd mountain or riding horse (12km). This is the main focus of the trip. Photography day of the biggest ice-capped mountain range.

    The next day, depending on the weather, we will climb one of 5 summits from Altai Tavan Bogd, The Malchin summit: 4,050 m (13,287 ft)

    (for those who are not interested in mountaineering we will offer other activities.)

  8. Day 9 Khurgan Lake

    Riding back to the van and after lunch drive to Khurgan lake, the lowest point of Altai Tavan Bogd National park.

  9. Day 10 Khoton and Khurgan Lakes

    Full photography day at Khurgan and Khoton lakes and surrounding area. The system of these lakes, connected by a wide channel, is the source of the Hovd River which drains the whole Mongolian Altai. Khoton Lake is located in an intermountain tectonic depression in the northern portion of the Mongolian Altai.

  10. Day 11 Drive to Buyant sum

    On the way stop at Tsengel sum and Valley of Jivertei. Here we can take photos of ancient man stones that belonged to Turkic empire, existed 5th to 7th centuries.

  11. Day 12 Tolbo Lake

    Come close to magnificent Tsambagarav mountain (4193m) via Tolbo lake. Enjoy the natural beauty and meeting with local people. Stay in a local eagle hunting family. Photography day of hunting eagle show and nomad life. Owners train eagles such as they chase fox skins dragged by their owners on horseback, collect marmots, small foxes and wolves and return to the ger, where the Kazakhs use them for food.

  12. Day 13 Khovd town

    Drive to Khovd city, the capital of the aimag, as well as the major industrial center western Mongolia. Brief city tour. Local Museum – geology exhibit, collections of stuffed wildlife, including an ibex with its distinctive corrugated antlers, ethnic costumes and artifacts, and a snow leopard pelt tacked up on the wall. One of the most interesting exhibits is the re-creation of the cave paintings at Tsenkheriin agui /Tsenkheryn cave/.

  13. Day 14 Flight to Ulaanbaatar

    City tour and evening cultural performance.

  14. Day 15 Departure

    The transfer can be organized at the time you want, according to the schedule of your flight.
