Elivera – Spain

I was looking forward to this tour a lot, as I had been wanting to see the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue for 5 years at least. The day did not disappoint. I was punctually picked up from my hotel during the morning, before being driven to the Statue, and onwards to Terelj National Park. The drive to the statue gave you a fascinating look at the countryside and everyday activities of Mongolians, which was complemented by the interesting information given by the friendly guide/driver as we passed through UB and beyond. Having visited the Equestrian Statue, and the accompanying museum, we drove onwards to Terelj National Park, where the vistas were immensely picturesque. We stopped at a Ger/Yurt for a hearty lunch which was well needed & received, as even the unnaturally warm January winter’s day (-8.C ish) was a far cry to the weather I’m used to in Australia. I would recommend anyone taking the tour in colder weather, to overpack/wear clothing and you can always take off a few layers as you see fit. The open country felt slightly colder than UB city, and before you started to build up some heat hiking in the national park, it was very chilly.
I was given a little free time while waiting for lunch and made my way to the top of a well-sized nearby hill. There was a tremendous sense of freedom standing atop the hill, surveying the national park, and I easily could have spent a week summiting the surrounding hills. There were numerous opportunities for good photos, and the guide was very willing to help ensure you yourself were in them. I would very much like to thank the guide for taking me and helping me see some of the most beautiful countrysides in the world.
I would very much recommend this tour to my friends, and I hope anyone reading this review has a similarly enjoyable time.
